Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS)
I am Interim Head of Competition at the Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS), responsible for ensuring the competitive retail water market works well and is prepared for major changes to charges in April 2017. I delivered important regulatory reforms on time, effectively processed regulatory business as usual, and built the capability and confidence of the team. Importantly, this contributed to maintaining public trust and confidence in an orderly market which is responsive to customers.
PKA AIP a/s
PKA (a major Danish pension fund) asked me to manage their first tender to Ofgem to become an Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) by competing for five transmission links worth £2.1bn in total. We created an OFTO team, bid strategy and tender document from scratch in a month.
I drafted significant parts of the tender, and coached the team to draft a quality tender with a consistent style, content and key messages. I developed key bid themes, and a document production system including allocation of tasks, timetable and editing process. Ofgem fed-back that our 93-page bid exceeded their requirements with my section on risk management awarded our best score. Ofgem were impressed by what we had achieved, quickly in our first OFTO bid.
